✧ This September's New Moon on 9/9 is in Virgo ✧
Essences: Intention, fantasy, release, mystery, co-creation, guidance, patience, listening
Questions to Ask: What is my intention for this coming month? What do I desire to manifest before the next New Moon?
What values of my intuition (my authentic Self) do I intend to embody more of? How could I show up more aligned with these values in my day to day life?
What is the great mystery (or mysteries) of my life right now?
How do I feel about the mystery, and why? Is there excitement? Is there fear? Is there a bit of both?
In what areas of life could I practice more patience? What would be the benefit in doing so?
How can I practice deep listening? Do I feel that I am presently listening deeply to myself? If not, what practices help me to feel that I am?
In what ways can I better collaborate and co-create with others?
What do I feel needs to be released at this New Moon? What is so obviously no longer serving me?
What to Become Aware of: Another dark Moon, another call to surrender. In my Intuitive Moon book, I talk a lot about the importance of surrender at the time of New Moons — how the energy of these nights really creates the space for us to sink into our own darkness and embrace it as joyfully as we do our light. Because really, it’s the darkness that creates the light and the light that creates the dark. We cannot fully experience one without knowing the other. They are both here to serve us in reminding us of our wholeness, our total beauty, and our similarity to all things. Tonight, I urge you to practice embracing this perspective by taking a gentle, non-judgmental look at the most mysterious areas of your life right now. Where is there completely confusion and a deep unknown? It is so beautiful not to know, because this humbles us in remembering that we actually don’t always have all the answers — that there are forces beyond our intellect that guide and co-create alongside our wildest hopes and dreams.
Remember that your intentions are your sacred, silent keys to manifestation. Holding the energetic remembrance in the form of an intention is just about the most powerful step that we can take to realizing what it is that we desire to show up in reality, and how. Intentions can be as simple as embracing a certain attribute or value that your authentic Self holds dear — such as practicing kindness, or listening better to others, or creating art just for art’s sake. It does not have to be something like, “I intend to make X amount of money by the end of the year”. Because most times, the simplest of intentions are really the most massive, as they create powerful and sustainable ripple affects out into every area of our lives, blanketing all that we do in a newfound awareness and beauty. It is better to intend for intuitive simplicity than to intend for egoic success, as the intuitive simplicity is what will take us the furthest and align us the highest with our co-creative divinity.
Patience is a powerful virtue at this Moon, that will bring us back into a heart of peace amongst the chaos of mystery. Practicing patience with life and how she unfolds is healthy and sweet, giving us a daily purpose of showing up for work and play, knowing that there is truly only one way to do things: in the way that just feels good, not because we feel obliged. Breathe deep and sink into darkness as often as you need, because when you do, you will similarly be reminded of the brilliance of your light, and that you are safe and guided and never doing this whole life thing alone.
We are in this together. X
A Ritual to Practice: I pulled a card from my Moon Deck, asking which ritual to guide you to. The card I pulled carried the affirmation "The rhythm of my breath directs the rhythm of my life." And here is the sweet ritual to go along with:
Pranic Breathing
Pranayama translates to the "control of breath." It supports and shapes our "prana" ~ our vital energy and life force. Learning to control your breath and energy is an invaluable tool for a healthy body and mind. Practice the following for at least seven minutes and revisit this tool often.
- Find a stable yet relaxed sitting position, straight upright spine, and soft face.
- Breathe through your nose, observing the natural rhythmic repetition.
- Begin to mentally count the length of your breaths, slowly and steadily. Start with a four count of equal length: Inhale 1, 2, 3, 4. Exhale 1, 2, 3, 4. After several rounds, increase to a six count, an eight count, possibly a ten count. Continue for several minutes.
- Then, increase by two-four seconds longer than your inhale: Inhale 1, 2, 3, 4. Exhale 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Continue to increase the count as you breathe for several more minutes. Be absorbed by the metronomic rhythm.
- When complete, become aware of any changes you feel and repeat the mantra three times.
